Some directors love to hide Easter eggs in their films. Some are pretty obvious while there are others that are so well hidden, that they aren't found until years later. In the case of Guardians of the Galaxy, there's one Easter egg that may never be found. It's so well hidden that some deny its very existence. One such fan did just that in a Q&A with director James Gunn, who then offered to give that fan $100,000 if there wasn't an Easter egg. I would not take that bet, kid.

While stuck in traffic, James Gunn decided to do an impromptu Q&A on Facebook to pass the time. As someone always does, one fan asked about if he ever planned to reveal the elusive Guardians of the Galaxy easter egg. As he has done for maybe the 100th time now, Gunn replied that he would never reveal what it was (or at least not for a while). This led one fan, in particular, to say, "He won't reveal it because it doesn't exist. The ultimate troll." A pretty tame burn by usual Internet standards, but that doesn't mean James Gunn likes being called a liar. He replied:

Tanin Moores If there is no Easter egg I will give you a hundred thousand dollars - copy this post - I will consider it a legally binding contract - signed, James Gunn

This was joined by a picture of Gunn looking straight at the camera, begging us to see if he was flinching. If this fan loses, he probably doesn't owe Gunn anything, which any gambler will tell you is a no-lose scenario. But you don't make a bet for $100,000 to get nothing in return if you aren't the most confident man on the planet, which means that this infamous Easter egg HAS to exist. Gunn wouldn't have made this post just to be a troll. There's literally no reason to lie about this Easter egg.

Some might consider it risky that Gunn opened himself up to what could be a sticky legal situation -- he didn't have to say this was a legally binding document. Assuming no one ever finds this Easter egg, this fan could sue Gunn for the money or force him to reveal the Easter egg, but that would require time and expenses the fan might not have. No one has found the Easter egg yet, but maybe this bet will reenergize the search.

So what's the lesson here, kids? Don't call famous directors trolls, or they WILL threaten you with $100,000.

James Gunn is hard at work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which has just recently undergone reshoots. The highly anticipated sequel is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
