A post-credits scene has been confirmed for Justice League by none other than Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa. The forthcoming DC superhero team-up extravaganza is the culmination of the Warner Bros. DC Extended Universe that first began way back in 2013 with Man of Steel . Bringing together Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Flash and Cyborg to fight the evil Steppenwolf , Justice League is one of the most anticipated cinematic releases of 2017 for superhero movie fans.

Traditionally, the DCEU’s output has not indulged in the trend of including post-credits scenes. Whereas Marvel fans know know all too well that they must buckle up and sit through an endless stream of names and obscure job titles in order to see that last juicy nugget of movie, the only DCEU release to pull the same trick has been Suicide Squad . The divisive 2016 movie included a segment of Bruce Wayne meeting Amanda Waller, with the former offering his protection in exchange for files on meta-humans, thus leading nicely into Justice League.

It has now been confirmed that Justice League itself will also include a post-credits scene. In an interview with BBC Radio 2 , actor Jason Momoa was asked whether superhero fans needed to stick around after watching Justice League, Momoa stated:

“They do, they do. You’ve gotta sit through the whole thing and go through the credits… I forgot that it was in the script. It’s fantastic.“

Obviously, Momoa stopped short of breaking down exactly what happens in the scene but given how rarely the DCEU movies include post-credits sequences, the Justice League scene is unlikely to be a Steve Rogers-style “patience” comedy skit . Intriguingly, the radio host, Ore Oduba, admitted to getting excited about the scene, despite claiming to not be someone who usually sits around for the credits to roll. Of course, Ore could have just been doing his part as the polite and interested interviewer.

Given the abundance of fan theories surrounding Justice League , there are plenty of interesting directions the post-credits scene could head in. Aside from the obvious Flashpoint lead in, one huge possibility would be the first hint of Green Lantern . Some have speculated that the hero (previously played by Ryan Reynolds and his animated super-suit) will feature in the Justice League movie itself but if this isn’t the case, a post-credits scene would be the perfect way of introducing the League’s most famous missing member ahead of the Green Lantern Corps . movie.

Alternatively, many have speculated as to Darkseid’s influence in Justice League and whether or not he will be revealed as the true villain of the piece, similar to how Thanos was controlling Loki in Avengers. Once again, if this plot point isn’t explored in the main film, a post-credits appearance from the famous DC villain would surely ignite fan excitement for the future of the franchise.
