Sam Neill says that he and original Jurassic Park stars Laura Dern and Jeff Golblum have significant roles in Jurassic World: Dominion, rather than just cameos. The sixth film in the franchise, and third in the Jurassic World trilogy, is gearing up to start shooting again after production was shut down and delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Colin Trevorrow, who wrote, produced and directed the first Jurassic World, and wrote and produced Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, takes triple duty once again on Dominion.

The director has said the third film will move away from the island settings favored by the franchise so far and will be the first movie to explore what happens when to the world when dinosaurs roam freely alongside humans, as seen at the climax of Fallen Kingdom, as well as Trevorrow's short film Battle at Big Rock. Dominion is also the first time that the stars of both the original trilogy and the latest movies will appear together. Neill, Goldblum, and Dern, who all starred in the very first Jurassic Park movie back in 1993, will star alongside current franchise leads Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas-Howard.

Speaking to Yahoo Movies, Neill has dispelled any doubts fans may have about the level of involvement the three original stars will have in the upcoming movie. Neill says that all three actors have significant roles and will appear "all the way through the film." Neill, who will be playing Dr. Alan Grant for the third time, goes on to drive the point home by saying that he and the rest of the actors will be "living in the same joint for three or four months," making it clear that they aren't flying in and out for a one-scene cameo.

Neill also says that some of the movie's cast are already in government-enforced quarantine in the UK prepping for the shoot, and that he expects to get there in the next ten days or so. Dominion will be the much-awaited conclusion to the Jurassic World trilogy, and Bryce Dallas-Howard has said that the script is both "awesome" and "exhilarating." Neill also spoke of his excitement for the movie, saying he is "raring to go" following the lockdown.

Neill's assurances that the returning cast will all have major roles will be music to the ears of Jurassic Park fans. Goldblum's much-publicized appearance in Fallen Kingdom turned out to be little more than a glorified cameo, with the veteran actor only appearing briefly in a pair of scenes at the beginning and end of the movie.

However, it's becoming clear that this time around, fans will be treated to the proper return of Dr. Ian Malcolm, alongside Neill's Grant and Dern's Dr. Ellie Sattler. With the stakes in this movie raised even higher, and the appearance of most of the major characters from the franchise, Jurassic World: Dominion could turn out to be a satisfying conclusion to this part of the franchise.
