Jordan Peele reveals that his new movie will be titled Us and may star multiple Black Panther cast members. One of the biggest surprises of last year was just how big Peele’s directorial debut Get Out became. He made what appeared to be a surprising turn to the horror/thriller genre after years of success in comedy, but it proved to be a genius move. Get Out was a surprise box office hit and went on to earn critical acclaim, multiple nominations by The Academy, and even landed Peele an Oscar for his script.

His ascension through Hollywood made him one of the biggest targets of last year. He reportedly received several offers for big budget movies, but turned them all down to do another smaller movie. The details of his sophomore feature were sparse before, but now the title and some cast members have been revealed.

Peele and Universal revealed the title of the movie is Us by releasing the first teaser poster for the movie. The poster teases “a new nightmare from the mind of Academy Award winner Jordan Peele” and only features two silhouettes. Thanks to a report from THR, who may make up those characters has been revealed too. According to their report, Black Panther stars Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke are in talks to join the movie, as well as The Handmaid’s Tale‘s Elisabeth Moss.

This is only the latest project that Nyong’o has joined since breaking out even more with Black Panther. She’s already tackling a remake of The Killer with John Woo and is teaming up with Jessica Chastain for an all-female spy thriller. There’s even been reports of her being eyed for the reboot of Charlie’s Angels. This role however should take her back to the dramatic ways that helped her standout in 12 Years a Slave.

Duke on the other hand has finally found his first project since portraying M’Baku in Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War. Based on the poster and the title, Us could rest on the shoulders of Duke and Nyong’o, potentially even as a couple. How Moss could factor in remains to be seen, but its another movie role for the Hulu star after also joining Warner Bros.’ The Kitchen.

Peele previously confirmed that filming is going to begin at some point this year, and it’ll need to do just that to stick to its release date. Universal previously planted Peele’s follow-up back in the earlier portions of the year, but that shouldn’t cause any red flags over its potential quality since that is when Get Out found so much success. In fact, if Universal is thrilled with what Peele delivers, then they could ultimately delay it to closer to awards season. But, they’re more likely hoping Us has as much staying power as Get Out and continues to be a major point of conversation in the movie industry all year long. With a potential cast like this, it certainly has a great chance.

Us is scheduled to hit theaters March 15, 2019.
