When John Wick came out of retirement for a bloody vendetta in 2014, he made a serious impression on critics and audiences alike. That sleeper hit has spiraled into franchise territory with the upcoming release of the highly anticipated John Wick: Chapter 2, and we couldn't be more excited. All eyes are on Keanu Reeves' dangerous yet undeniably stylish assassin to recapture the gory glory of the first film, but could a third movie potentially be on the horizon? According to director Chad Stahelski, that's a very real possibility:

The studio has asked us to put our heads together and see if we can come up with something. Winston's [Ian McShane] is a big part of the next one, so is Lance Reddick. We've got some ideas.

During a recent interview with Collider at New York Comic-Con, John Wick director Chad Stahelski explained that the folks at Lionsgate recently asked him to come up with possible narrative ideas for a third John Wick film. Although he has not landed on any official story just yet, he has worked closely with actors Ian McShane and Lance Reddick on a few possibilities. There's still several months left until John Wick: Chapter 2 actually hits theaters, so for now all we can really do is speculate as to where the story could possibly go from here. One thing is certain: Mr. Wick is going to rack up an insane body count along the way.

That's ultimately the beauty of the John Wick franchise; Chad Stahelski placed such a heavy emphasis on world building during the events of the first movie that they can now pretty much go anywhere and do anything. Now that John Wick has very firmly been reintroduced to the lethal life that he left behind, new installments in the series could take him to a variety of exotic locales in order to explore new economies and ecosystems in the seedy, yet well-developed, criminal underworld.

If Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeves continue to deliver the goods, then we're completely on board with a third John Wick film -- as long as they don't kill any more of his dogs along the way. Rest in peace, Daisy.
