Halle Berry's dogs kept ruining takes on the set of John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum by chasing after cats. Chapter 3 picks up right after the events of John Wick: Chapter 2, with Wick on the run after becoming excommunicated by the High Table. Keanu Reeves stars once again, but this time he was also joined by Berry, whose character Sofia is the manager of the Continental Hotel in Casablanca.

While Reeves and Berry rack up quite the body count, the dogs of the John Wick movies are action stars in their own rights. As fans will remember, the John Wick franchise started off with Wick's beagle puppy getting killed, which ultimately kicked off the chain of events for the rest of the series. At the end of the first movie, Wick adopts a pit bull, which was set to be euthanized. Sofia's dogs are introduced in Chapter 3, who are two very well trained Belgian Malinois. While the dogs were skilled enough to perform in front of a camera, they did have a few hiccups behind the scenes.

Berry revealed in the special features of the John Wick: Chapter 3 Blu-ray (via CinemaBlend) that the dogs would often run after cats whenever they saw them on set. Berry explained the situation saying, "There's cats everywhere and when my dogs saw cats they went ballistic. We'd be in the middle of a scene and all of the sudden, a cat would come strolling by and off goes the dog. Because at the end of the day they're animals and nature says, you know, go get that cat." Berry also mentioned that the crew would try to search the set before filming to chase off any lingering cats, but eventually, they would still make their way into her dogs' line of sight.

While all of the dogs make it out safely by the end of the movie, Wick is left in a critical state, which sets up John Wick: Chapter 4. The film hasn't gotten a plot synopsis just yet, but will likely feature Wick and the Bowery King waging war against The High Table. John Wick: Chapter 4 will be released in 2021, but little else is actually known about the film. A John Wick TV show called The Continental is also in the works, which will be available to stream on Starz.

While seeing the well-trained dogs of John Wick: Chapter 3 chasing after cats was probably funny for the first couple times it happened, it was no doubt a hassle for the cast and crew. The cinematographer Dan Laustsen has several long takes in the movie, especially during fight sequences. Wick never really has his pit bull fight alongside him, but Sofia fights with her Malinoises in several scenes, which means they would have had to reshoot the sequence every time the dogs ran off. Regardless, you can't really blame a dog for chasing after a cat, no matter how well trained they are.
