Jennifer Lawrence has dropped hints about the role her character Mystique will play in the forthcoming X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

Lawrence played the young Mystique in 2011's X-Men: First Class along with James McAvoy as Charles Xavier and Michael Fassbender as Magneto and, in an interview with IGN, discussed the arc her character will go through in the latest film in the franchise.

"We find Raven, she's split off from Eric and Charles and she's kind of her own agent," said Lawrence. "She has one mission of trying to assassinate somebody and it will be her first kill basically, and because we've seen her in the future and what she becomes, this is kind of a turning point for her."

Directed by Bryan Singer, X-Men: Days Of Future Past boasts a massive cast featuring nearly every familiar face from the previous five X-Men movies. Lawrence, Fassbender and McAvoy will all appear, and will also be joined by Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, Ellen Page and Anna Paquin. The full cast convened at San Diego Comic-Con in July and Singer shared a memorable photo from the event.

Some of the film's action takes place in 1973, Singer has revealed, and President Richard Nixon will feature as a character. X-Men: Days Of Future Past opens in UK cinemas on May 22, 2014 and a day later on May 23, 2014 in the US. You can watch a trailer for the film at the bottom of the page.
