Aquaman star Jason Momoa will once again play a fearless warrior, as he takes the lead role in Apple's upcoming sci-fi series See. Steven Wright (The Girl in the Spider's Web) wrote the series and will executive produce, together with executive producer and series director Francis Lawrence (Red Sparrow).

Series television is of course a familiar realm for Momoa, who had his big break playing the Dothraki leader Khal Drogo on season 1 of HBO's Game of Thrones. Momoa also stars on the series Frontier for Netflix, playing a half-Native American outlaw battling fur trappers in the Canadian wilderness. On the movie side, Momoa is most famous for playing Aquaman in Justice League. He of course will reprise the role of Aquaman in 2018's standalone film, co-starring Amber Heard, Dolph Lundgren and Nicole Kidman.

When it comes to life outside the DCEU, Momoa continues lining up more roles that allow him to play a powerful warrior. As reported by Variety, the actor will now join forces with Apple and Francis Lawrence for See, a sci-fi series described as a futuristic piece of epic world-building. Momoa will play Baba Voss, who is described as "fearless" and a "leader" and "guardian." Needless to say, these are all attributes that Momoa has previously adopted on more than one occasion.

With See, Apple continues its push into series television as it seeks to compete with Netflix, Hulu and all the other many streaming and traditional TV options out there. In addition to See, Apple is also planning an untitled Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon series set behind the scenes at a network morning show. Also on tap for Apple is the series Are You Sleeping?, which is set to star Octavia Spencer, Lizzy Caplan, Aaron Paul and Ron Cephus Jones. When it comes to genre fare, Apple also has reportedly greenlit a straight-to-series thriller from director M. Night Shyamalan, as well as a space drama from Battlestar Galactica creator Ronald D. Moore. Damien Chazelle is also developing a series for Apple, but details of that project remain under wraps.

It sounds as though Apple will have a nice variety of different projects for folks to sample once they begin releasing their original programming. For sci-fi and Jason Momoa fans, See is bound to be high on that list of anticipated series. However, those hoping Momoa will engage in crazy sex and violence reminiscent of his Khal Drogo days might be disappointed, as Apple will reportedly keep their shows family friendly.
