One of the most refreshing superhero movies in recent years was The LEGO Batman Movie, a film that wasn't afraid to make fun of everything about Batman, while still finding a way to pay tribute it. That blend of mockery and reverence is arguably the greatest strength of LEGO Batman, so it should come as no surprise that the film taped into it once again to celebrate the home release of the movie. Batman has shown up in many different forms on the big screen over the years, and The LEGO Batman Movie paid tribute to a few with some LEGO-ized poster. Enjoy!

The LEGO Batman Movie is hitting iTunes today, so the iTunes Movies Twitter account decided to announce its arrival with some very fun posters. The posters are of four live-action Batman films, but with LEGO figurines in place of the actors. The films getting the LEGO treatment are Batman Returns, Batman and Robin, Batman Forever, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Sorry to all you Christopher Nolan fans, but you still have to what to see what Dark Knight in LEGO's looks like. I'm quite partial to the Batman Returns one myself, but I wish they had gone the extra mile and made an actual Danny DeVito/Penguin mini-fig for it.

Interestingly, these are posters for some of more lower-rated appearances of the Dark Knight. Batman v Superman was famously brought to task by critics upon its release, and no one needs to be reminded how bad Joel Schumacher's Batman films are. Batman Returns is probably one of the better ones that were included, but it's typically believed to have fallen short of Tim Burton's first Batman movie.

Kudos to The LEGO Batman Movie marketing team for still killing it right up until the very last. The movie was extremely self-aware about Batman's place in cinema, and certainly wasn't afraid to poke fun at some of the goofier aspects of the character or DC Comics (example: not every Batman villain is iconic). The movie also clearly had respect for this source material, and was able to bring it all home for the most fun take on Batman in...well, ever.

Spinning off from The LEGO Movie, The LEGO Batman Movie followed a deeply conceited but lonely Batman, who has to stop a plot from the Joker while being straddled with his newly adopted son, Dick. Batman soon finds himself with a crime fighting family of his own as he has to save Gotham City once again. The movie was directed by Chris McKay and starred Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson, Ralph Fiennes, and Zach Galifianakis.

The LEGO Batman Movie is available on digital today, while the physical release drops on June 13, 2017.
