Infinity War Deleted Scene Dives Deeper Into Thanos & Gamora's Relationship

The second Avengers: Infinity War deleted scene is released online, and it focuses on the strained relationship between Thanos and Gamora. Marvel Studios 10th-anniversary offering not only brought together almost all heroes in the franchise in one epic movie, it also marked the official introduction of supervillain Thanos, which the MCU had been teasing since 2011's Thor.

While directors Joe and Anthony Russo did a decent job in establishing Thanos' backstory and motivation in Infinity War, there is still so much to learn about the character, especially in terms of his relationship to his adoptive children such as the members of the Black Order, Nebula, and Gamora. The newly released deleted scene from the movie gives fans deeper insight into what the Mad Titan's dynamic was with his favorite child, long before Gamora officially joined the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Posted on USA Today Life's official Twitter account is the second deleted scene from Infinity War, this one featuring Thanos and Gamora's intense conversation about their complicated relationship as father and daughter. The clip reveals the Mad Titan using the Reality Stone to recreate a memory back when his adopted child was still his most reliable soldier. It also delves deeper into Gamora's anguish over having to do things she didn't want to just to help Thanos accomplish his goal. Check out the video below:

In hindsight, the aforementioned scene is more of a modified version of the one that ended up in Infinity War's theatrical cut. Unlike the previously released deleted scene featuring the Guardians of the Galaxy getting a message from Nebula that was entirely scrapped, this latest sequence just plays out significantly different in the film - more likely to shorten the whole exchange between the two. While the clip includes the discussion about Gamora lying about knowing where the Soul Stone is, there are some notable changes in the dialog. Further, it seems like the part where the Mad Titan justified kidnapping her from her home planet in the movie (which created a plot hole) replaced the part where Thanos was talking about taking Gamora under his wing and making her the "fiercest woman in the galaxy."

A third and final deleted scene from the flick yet to emerge online will feature Happy Hogan, Tony Stark's trusted aide played by director Jon Favreau. Judging by its title, "Happy Has A Perspective," the bit is more likely from Infinity War's first act before Doctor Strange interrupted what was rather a relaxing morning for Tony and Pepper. Previously released set photos from the movie showed Favreau was on set with Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow that day when that particular sequence was shot, dressed up as his MCU character. That said, fans can look forward to the Iron Man filmmaker officially making a return on the big screen as Happy in next year's Avengers 4.

Avengers: Infinity War is out now on digital HD, while its Blu-ray releases in two weeks on August 14.
