We are on the ground here in Albuquerque, New Mexico, visiting the set of the second Independence Day, and we’ll have plenty to report back to CinemaBlend readers about the sequel. Roland Emmerich’s sequel to Independence Day will take place 20 years after the events of the original 1996 blockbuster, which saw a fleet of alien spaceships coming down to our planet, hovering over Earth’s major cities, and destroying our key landmarks. Who can forget the destruction of the White House and the Empire State Building, easily one of the most memorable scenes from that summer season?


The majority of the original cast is back for the sequel to Independence Day, and they all will be part of the Monday evening teleconference. Roland Emmerich will be joined by Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Angelababy, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward, Jessie Usher and Liam Hemsworth for an all-star presentation that is expected to set thet stage for next summer’s film.
