I’M A Celebrity bosses threatened to quit their iconic Australian jungle site after they were slapped with a £100,000 fine.

The local council Down Under issued the penalty when locals complained about the huge operation and trucks rumbling in and out of Murwillumbah in New South Wales.

The Daily Star reports that the show came to an agreement with the local council and said they'd reduce vehicle movements around town.

But in the last 12 months they reportedly breached the agreement 36 times - prompting a crack down by council bosses and a fine of more than £100,000.

However, Tweed Shire Council on the Aussie Gold Coast eventually backed down and reduced the penalty to £3,000 when the show called their bluff and threatened to move location.

Tweed Shire’s deputy mayor Chris Cherry said the town conceded because they didn't want to lose income for local businesses.

She said: "(We have been) trying to find the balance between supporting this successful production company and the employment it brings to our community and the needs of the local residents”.

Last year Georgia Toffolo was crowned the Queen of the Jungle.

However, the show was marred with claims that the campmates were bullying Iain Lee who finished third.

No date has been confirmed for I’m A Celebrity 2018.
