Easily one of this year’s most eagerly anticipated films – it’s definitely one of ours – is The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. As its name makes very apparent, the film is the first part of the The Hunger Games series’ grand finale, while Part 2 will release in November 2015. Since the beginning of summer, the promotional push behind Mockingjay Part 1 has been littered with viral videos, posters, teasers, characters posters, trailers, and yes, even more posters.

Yet all this hype is for good reason. Both The Hunger Games and Catching Fire were colossal hits, and with the decision to split the series’ final installment into two films – a decision director Francis Lawrence insists made sense narratively, and allows for further world-building of Panem – Lionsgate can hope for a strong finish to an already hugely successful franchise.

The trailers we’ve already seen for Mockingjay Part 1 have had one message, and it’s the same message as the film’s rebellion’s propaganda: Katniss is the Mockingjay. In the film’s first trailer, Katniss was struggling to accept her role as a rebel leader. The full trailer then expanded on that, showing Katniss on the front lines.

Now in the newest trailer (above), we see how they were able to pressure Katniss into taking on such a public role and become the face of their rebellion. Watch it above.

It was at the very end of Catching Fire that Katniss learned her home, District 12, had been fire-bombed and much of its population killed. Those who were able to escape – including Gale, her sister Primrose, and her mother – fled to District 13, a district once believed to be destroyed which is home to Panem’s rebellion.

The reveal of District 12′s fate provides the book – and therefore the film – with a shocking and abrupt ending. Katniss as well as audiences will have been waiting for this moment to properly say goodbye to arguably one of the series’ most important locations. However, as this new trailer shows, this poignant and emotional moment will be used to push and manipulate Katniss into becoming the face of the rebellion, a role she’s not sure she wants.
