Since 1983, A Christmas Story has made audiences laugh, smile and remember their own Christmas dreams come true, creating a holiday institution for all to enjoy. With its status as an American classic well cemented over three decades of tradition, it was only a matter of time before the house was made into a monument for all to celebrate their own memories of Bob Clark's legendary film. And after years of serving as a museum to the movie's success, a new chapter is opening in the story of A Christmas Story's famed abode: it's about to become a place for fans to stay.

Starting this summer, A Christmas Story's House & Museum will be opening its doors for folks to rest their heads in the same spot where Ralphie, Randy and the rest of the Parker family slept in the actual film. This marks another milestone for Brian Jones, the fan who won the bid for the house's ownership on eBay back in 2004. Opening the house as the museum back in 2006, the attraction has already served numerous fans looking to stake their own piece of holiday excitement. But before you go looking to make your reservations, there's some key figures you'll want to keep in mind.

June 1st marks the beginning of the house & museum's rental period, however that's only good if you don't care when you stay there, or if you're a fan of the underrated spiritual sequel A Summer Story. That being said, if you wanted to celebrate A Christmas Story's proper anniversary, you should look into booking the house for November 18th. The release date of the Bob Clark classic will put you closer to the peak season rates of December's $1,995 a night asking price. But you can knock a solid grand off the going rate for that particular date, despite the fact that it'll surely be a far cry from the June rate of $495 a night.

While the rates for A Christmas Story's House and Museum may seem a bit steep, keep in mind that you are getting a full house for this rate. This isn't just access to a room and the backyard's target practice range. But even if you're a casual fan or a dyed in the wool obsessive, the chance to stay in a cinematically historical house is a pretty big reward for such decent rates. So if you're interested, get your friends together, pool some money and book a vacation that could only happen in the movies.

A Christmas Story is available on Digital HD, Blu-ray and DVD, and will always be on TBS for 24 hours starting Christmas Eve. To book your stay at the house itself, click here.
