How Batman Will Take Down Superman In Dawn Of Justice

We know it’s going to take more than badass fighting skills and a couple of Batarangs for Batman to go toe-to-toe with Superman in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Thats why, as we’ve seen from various images and the teaser trailer, Gotham City’s Dark Knight will be wearing heavy-duty, Dark Knight Returns-style armor while combating the Kryptonian. However, that might not be the only weapon in Bruce Wayne’s arsenal against Kal-El in the 2016 blockbuster.

According to Heroic Hollywood, Batman will be wielding a Kryptonite-laced spear to fight Superman. The article doesn’t reveal how Batman obtains the extraterrestrial rock or how he’ll use it against the Kryptonian, but it does say that this is the item he was holding in that scene from the teaser trailer in the graffiti-covered room (Wayne Manor?), as seen below.

Even if you’re not deeply entrenched in the Superman mythology, you likely know that Kryptonite is Superman’s primary weakness, which makes it the most common weapon for his adversaries to use. In the comics, although Batman and Superman are allies, the Caped Crusader usually keeps a chunk of Kryptonite on hand if Superman is ever brainwashed or goes rogue, which has happened on several occasions. Kryptonite wasn’t seen or even alluded to in Man of Steel, so if this rumor is true, they’ll have to explain where this substance came from. Personally, I suspect Lex Luthor will be the source of the green substance, either discovering it first or manufacturing it himself. Taking it to the next level, imagine if Luthor directly supplies the Kryptonite to Batman, knowing that the vigilante can put it to good use.

In terms of how it the spear will used, I’m picturing something akin to Oberyn Martell fighting Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane in Game of Thrones, though not nearly as gory. Batman could use the spear to take Superman by surprise, and each wound would weaken him to the point that eventually he’ll barely be able to stand. However, assuming his no-kill rule is in effect for the DCCU, Batman won’t snuff out his alien foe’s life. Basically, the Kryptonite spear will be used to finish the battle, and that would definitely be an epic conclusion! Unfortunately for Batman, Superman could also hold that over his head for the rest of their lives. "Hey Bruce, remember when you nearly killed me with that ancient warrior’s weapon? That wasn’t cool, man…"
