We all know by now that Thanos is the baddest dude in the galaxy, and that the Avengers will have to pull out all the stops to take him down in Avengers: Infinity War. What we don't know about that film is basically anything else. It's the biggest film Marvel has ever attempted to make, boasting dozens of characters from years worth of films. How exactly are they going to balance these heroes against Thanos? According to Kevin Feige, it'll be through lots of intercutting stories and plenty of teamwork.

We will be intercutting a lot of stories in that movie in a lot of different locales, as it sort of is in the Avengers movies as well; who is facing off against who. In this movie, it's going to be fun to mix that up. One of the things that's great about the Infinity Gauntlet is everybody tried to go up against Thanos whether they were god-like powers or not, because that's what Avengers do. The fun about those two movies that we're doing essentially at the same time is everybody's there.

Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige spoke with IGN at the Doctor Strange sneak peek footage event, where he was asked how they plan to balance the massive cast of Infinity War. Feige answered that it won't be too dissimilar to a regular Avengers movie, in which characters pair off and work together. There will multiple storylines running at once, each involving different characters with separate moments. As to what those storylines will be is anyone's guess, but people have previously stated that certain characters who may not have been in the spotlight will be getting their due in Infinity War.

Feige also takes time to draw comparisons to Infinity Gauntlet, the storyline that serves as the main inspiration for Infinity War. In the Infinity Gauntlet comic, almost every single superhero in the Marvel universe teams up to fight an all-powered Thanos at once. What results is basically a bloodbath for the Avengers, so one hopes it turns out better for them in the movie. Part of the fun of the MCU is seeing all these characters together, and the idea of watching them all fight Thanos at the same time is incredibly exciting. That's a lot of super powers and action to keep track of, but if Captain America: Civil War taught us anything, it's that Joe and Anthony Russo know how to balance these stimuli.

And let's not forget about the still untitled Avengers 4, which is filming back to back with Infinity War. Nobody knows anything about that film, but it will supposedly be its own story that is somehow connected to the events of Infinity War.

Avengers: Infinity War begins filming this year and will hit theaters on May 4, 2018.
