Ang Lee is directing the unique action thriller.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead has nabbed the female lead in Gemini Man, the Will Smith action thriller that Ang Lee is directing.

Skydance and Paramount are behind the project, which is eyeing a February start.

The film sees Smith playing two opposing roles: one of Henry, an aging assassin who wants to get out of the business, and that of his ultimate opponent, a clone who is 25 years younger and at the peak of his abilities that has been tasked to kill him.

Winstead, who beat out Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany for the role, will play an operative who works for the same company as Henry and has been ordered to surveil him. However, she soon teams up with him.

Clive Owen is currently in talks to play one of the villains of the movie, the head of the cloning program.

Jerry Bruckheimer is producing along with Skydance’s David Ellison and Dana Goldberg. Don Murphy is executive producing.

Winstead, whose last movie turn was in the hit 10 Cloverfield Lane, is coming off a co-starring run in season three of FX’s acclaimed Fargo. She is repped by WME.
