Hercules writer to script charlie's angels reboot

The screenplay for Sony's upcoming Charlie's Angeles reboot will be penned by Hercules writer Evan Spiliotopoulos.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spiliotopoulos joins Elizabeth Banks, who will be directing the reboot and also producing with Max Handyman through Brownstone Productions.

In addition to penning the script for Hercules, Spiliotopoulos' name is attached to a number of other projects, including The Huntsman Winter's War and Disney's live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast.

Charlie's Angels got its start as a television series back in the 70s and centered around three women detectives who solved cases for a man named Charlie. The franchise was later brought to the big screen with a feature film in 2000 and a sequel in 2003.

Banks is excited to bring the series back for a new generation, telling THR: "The original ethos of women who graduated from the police academy, and then were given the jobs of crossing guard and meter maid, I feel like that's still very real in the world right now."
