Fox has confirmed that they are working on a TV series adaptation of the Oscar-nominated Chris Pine-starrer from 2016, Hell or High Water. Directed by David Mackenzie (Outlaw King) and written by Taylor Sheridan (Sons of Anarchy, Wind River), the story of the original film followed two brothers, played by Pine and Ben Foster, who decide to carry out a series of heists against the bank that's about to foreclose on their family farm, all the while having two Texas Rangers (Jeff Bridges, Gil Birmingham) on their tail.

As reported by Variety, Fox Entertainment has a TV series adaptation of Hell or High Water in development. The series is set to be a one-hour drama project with a script and additional material said to be ordered at the broadcaster. The producers of the original film, Sidney Kimmel, John Penotti, Carla Hacken, Gigi Pritzker, Rachel Shane, and Julie Yorn, will also co-produce the series. Jessica Mecklenberg (Stranger Things, Dopesick) is set to pen the screenplay and take on executive producing duties as well. Fox will be partnering up with recently-founded film production company, SK Global, to co-produce the series. Fox has also released an outline for the synopsis of the series which is as follows:

"When a ruthless oil tycoon attempts to plunder a West Texas ranching community, two local brothers dodge a zealous Texas Ranger and fight to keep what’s theirs, one bank robbery at a time, come hell or high water."

The 2016 crime drama feature received critical acclaim at the time of its release, earning recognition from AFI and the National Board of Review as one of their Top 10 films of the year. It also earned four Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay for Sheridan, Best Editing, and Best Supporting Actor for Jeff Bridges. There's been no confirmation on whether the cast from the film will reprise their roles as of yet, but with the original producers returning, the Hell or High Water series promises to re-capture some of the magic that made the Western film so memorable.
