Helen Mirren reveals she is open to appearing in future The Fast and the Furious films if she finally gets to drive her own car. The veteran actress joined the long-running franchise this year with the eighth installment of the series, The Fate of the Furious, where she played Magdalene Shaw — the mother of former enemies turned family members of the team, Deckard (Jason Statham) and Owen (Luke Evans).

For more than a decade, the Fast and the Furious franchise has continued to offer something that keeps it fresh and still intriguing to fans. Despite the tragic death of Paul Walker, who played Brian O’Connor opposite Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto, the franchise forged ahead with another film. Fate of the Furious eventually became a smash hit worldwide with a total box office haul of $1.2 billion dollars, making it the 13th motion picture to make over a billion dollars and the second installment to do so within the franchise.

The franchise is expected to go on for at least a couple more episodic films, and Mirren is already eyeing her possible return. In a new interview with EW, the 72-year-old actress expressed her desire to return to the action movie series saying “I’d love to come back. But, guys, I want to drive next time.”

While Mirren is mostly known for her dramatic acting chops, which won her acclaim for films like The Queen and Gosford Park, the actress is not entirely new to action films. Prior to her joining the Fast and Furious franchise, she appeared in the Bruce Willis-led Red and Red 2 movies as femme fatale Victoria Winslow. With those movies and a successful turn in the Fast & Furious films her return for another go-round with Dominic and Co. seems like it would be in the best interest of everyone involved..

If anything, Mirren’s character could organically emerge in the planned Luke Hobbs (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) and Deckard spinoff. Aside from the ongoing main narrative, The Fast and the Furious franchise is also said to be branching out with other properties that could put the spotlight on several other characters. Should Mirren make her way in one of those, fans could get more details on her backstory and how her sons came out to be code-breakers.
