HBO Max has gotten a trailer teasing its library of content. Having sat on the sidelines up to this point, HBO will officially join the streaming wars when it launches its HBO Max service in May. In a bid to rival its competitors (especially Netflix and Disney+), the streamer will include exclusive access to extremely popular (but no longer running) sitcoms like Friends and The Big Bang Theory, in addition to comparatively niche series like Doctor Who and The Boondocks, and the wealth of older movies WarnerMedia already owns the rights to. And that's to mention nothing of all the brand-new original content being developed.

With its premiere date coming up in a couple months, HBO Max has dropped a 30-second trailer teasing the various content that will be available after launch. In addition to the shows listed earlier, that lineup includes previous seasons of South Park, Game of Thrones, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, as well as movies like DC's Oscar-winning Joker and the 1999 sci-fi classic The Matrix. You can watch the full preview in the space below.

While HBO Max should have little trouble attracting viewers interested in its wealth of older IP, it will be interesting to see how its efforts at building original content turn out. They only just announced Warner Max, a label that will specialize in producing mid-budget films for the streamer, with plans to release eight to ten a year in the beginning. That's far less than what Netflix is churning out right now, but also carries the promise of better quality movies for it. HBO Max will even enter the superhero game by producing a live-action Green Lantern TV show from the creators of the Arrowverse, along with four hour-long specials of the recently-concluded Adventure Time. At the least, they should make some noise at launch thanks to all the titles they've already got in their pocket.

HBO Max is WarnerMedia’s direct-to-consumer offering debuting in spring 2020. With 10,000 hours of curated premium content anticipated at launch, HBO Max will offer powerhouse programming for everyone in the home, bringing together HBO, a robust slate of new original series, key third-party licensed programs and movies, and fan favorites from WarnerMedia’s rich library including Warner Bros., New Line, DC, CNN, TNT, TBS, truTV, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Crunchyroll, Rooster Teeth, Looney Tunes and more.
