Following the world premiere of an original theater production based on the best-selling fantasy franchise, the Harry Potter series has been on a bit of an upswing once again in the public eye. Considering the fact that author J.K. Rowling will additionally be penning her first feature film script for the forthcoming spin-off project Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – in addition to adding a new Patronus feature for Pottermore account holders online – interest in the iconic Wizarding World is perhaps as high as it has ever been.

As evidenced by the final theatrical trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, returning Harry Potter movie franchise director David Yates (The Legend of Tarzan) is all set to explore another facet of Rowling’s wildly original fantasy world on the big screen. On that note, Warner Bros. Pictures is giving fans of the motion picture property another special return to the original series of feature length motion pictures.

Per an official press release, it has been officially announced that all eight of the original Harry Potter films will be screened domestically in IMAX 2D theater locations across the country as part of a one-week engagement starting October 13 – leading up to and in celebration of the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Tickets will be available to purchase via one of four options, including Single Ticket (amounting to one movie at a pre-designated time), Day Access (amounting to three or more movies in one day at any time), Four-Show Access (amounting to four movies at any time on any day), and Festival Access (amounting to unlimited movies throughout the event). The kinds of packages offered and exact retail prices may vary depending on location.

The IMAX re-release of the first eight Harry Potter movies will include exclusive in-person appearances from the crew of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them at two locations in London and Los Angeles, and all screenings will include exclusive filmed content from the new movie – including specially recorded messages from star Eddie Redmayne and the rest of the cast. Speaking to the enthusiasm held for the week-long, Global Fan Event screenings, CEO and Senior Executive Vice President of IMAX Entertainment and IMAX Corp., Greg Foster, stated:

“Harry Potter is one of the most beloved film franchises of all time and is incredibly important to the history of IMAX. Therefore, being able to offer each installment – especially the initial two for the very first time in IMAX- makes this a truly magical event for fans.“

It should be exciting for longtime fans of the original eight Harry Potter movies to be able to see the films in IMAX again – and for the very first time in the case of the remastered prints for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Leading up to the theatrical release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them later next month, fans of Rowling’s fantasy series have a lot to look forward to in the mean time.

The week long Harry Potter IMAX event will begin in the U.S. on October 13, 2016.
