Christopher Nolan's next project is indeed the reported World War II epic Dunkirk, and the Dark Knight director is in talks with top-notch Hollywood talent to join the film.

According to Variety, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh and Tom Hardy are all in negotiations for roles in the movie. Dunkirk's cast will reportedly be led by unknown actors, with Nolan and his casting department testing teens in London for the leading parts. Nolan is said to have wanted to lock in the movie's handful of adult roles before the holiday season.

"We are thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Christopher Nolan," Warner Bros. exec Greg Silverman said. "Dunkirk is a gripping and powerful story and we are excited to see Chris, Emma and their cast realize it on the big screen."

Dunkirk will open on July 21, 2017 and tell the story of the historic evacuation of Dunkirk, France during World War II. The movie will be shot in IMAX 65mm and 65mm large format, with filming to begin in May.
