The Losers’ Club Sees Red In New IT Image

The Losers’ Club prepares to face the biggest threat they have ever encountered in this new image from IT. Back in 1990, Stephen King’s supernatural horror novelwas adapted into a television miniseries starring Tim Curry as evil clown Pennywise. The series gathered a large cult following over the years and now, almost three decades later, comes the cinematic adaptation, with Bill Skarsgård as the new Pennywise.

Directed by Andrés Muschietti, IT – also known as IT: Part 1 – The Losers’ Club – follows a group of seven children, known as “The Losers’ Club”, as they go against an evil shape-shifting entity and are forced to confront their biggest fears in the process. This is the first film in a planned duology, with the second part planned for a 2019 release. Muschietti’s take on King’s novel is one of the most anticipated films of the year, making it to Yahoo’s “50 Fall Movies We’re Excited To See” list, where they also shared a new look at the Losers’ Club.

Ranked #13 on the list, Yahoo shares a new image from the film, showing part of the Losers Club colored in red light, as seen briefly on the second trailer. At the front of the group is the leader of the Club, Bill Denbrough (Jaeden Lieberher), who is also the big brother of Georgie, one of Pennywise’s first victims. Accompanying Bill are Ben Hanscom (Jeremy Ray Taylor), Beverly Mash (Sophia Lillis), Eddie Kaspbrak (Jack Dylan Grazer), and Stanley Uris (Wyatt Oleff).

While neither the description of the image nor any of the trailers show what is about to happen in this scene, given the use of color red in the story, it could be safe to say they are about to come face to face with Pennywise or any other shape this entity might take. The infamous red balloon, Pennywise’s hair and nose, and (of course) all the blood are just a few – and quite obvious – uses of red in the story, so viewers should keep their eyes open to catch even the most subtle details and hints throughout the film.

This first film, unlike the novel which is set in the 50s, is set in the summer of 1989, and the second film will be set in the present day (contrary to the latter half of the novel, set in the 80s), following the Losers’ Club all grown-up, dealing with IT’s comeback. As Yahoo points out, IT is on its way to become one of the most terrifying films of the year, but most importantly, one of the best adaptations of a Stephen King novel.
