The Good Cop is no longer on duty for Netflix.

The streaming giant has canceled the Tony Danza and Josh Groban dramedy after one season. The hourlong series dropped its 10 episodes on Sept. 21 and could not cut through the cluttered landscape as the streamer attempted to battle the crowded broadcast premiere week with the effort.

"The Good Cop will not return for a second season. We're grateful to creator Andy Breckman and his fellow producers, writers, the incredible crew and especially stars Tony Danza and Josh Groban for bringing this classic odd couple father-son story to Netflix," reps for the streamer said Tuesday in a statement.

In his review, THR chief TV critic Tim Goodman called the series "another bland scoop of vanilla nostalgia or, just maybe, the product of an evil plan from Netflix." Like other streamers, Netflix does not release viewership information and relies on its algorithm to predict what shows its subscribers will view.

Based on an Israeli format of the same name, The Good Cop starred Danza as Tony Sr., a disgraced former NYPD officer who never followed the rules. He lives with his son, Tony Jr. (Groban), an earnest, obsessively honest NYPD detective who makes a point of always following the rules. The "odd couple" become unofficial partners as Tony Sr. offers his overly cautious son blunt, street-wise advice on everything from handling suspects to handling women.

From Monk creator Breckman, the project earned a straight-to-series order at the streamer in June 2017. Breckman served as showrunner and executive produced with Howard Klein (The Office) and Randy Zisk, who also directed the premiere. Danza also produced.

The decision to cancel The Good Cop arrives as Netflix continues to refine its approach to scripted originals. While the streamer owned the series, most of its recent cancellations have been for originals produced by outside studios, including American Vandal (CBS TV Studios), All About the Washingtons and Marvel's Iron Fist and Luke Cage (ABC Studios).
