Kevin Hart won’t be quite as ubiquitous on the big screen in 2015 as he was in 2014, but he’s still got a couple of comedy vehicles scheduled for next year. The first pairs him opposite Josh Gad in the raunchy wedding comedy, The Wedding Ringer, while the latter sees Hart team up alongside Will Ferrell in a prison (preparation) comedy, titled Get Hard.

Get Hard is the feature directorial debut for screenwriter Etan Cohen, whose previous script work has ranged from R-Rated satire (Idiocracy, Tropic Thunder) to comical tentpoles (Men in Black III) and even kid-friendly animated comedy fare (Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa). The film’s supporting cast includes such comedy favorites as Alison Brie (Community), who makes a very brief appearance in the newly-released Get Hard trailer (watch it above); for the most part, though, Get Hard looks to be a Ferrell/Hart show.

Cohen’s latest project, which he also co-wrote alongside Jay Martel and Ian Roberts (Key and Peele), appears more in line with his Tropic Thunder work. The Get Hard trailer alone takes shots at several topical issues (class/race stereotypes, white collar crime, etc.), as explored through the different comedy styles of Ferrell and Hart, now combined together.

The actual movie promises to be fairly raunchy (warning: Ferrell will be naked in this film), though as is the case with all buddy comedies, Get Hard‘s ability to hit its marks will ultimately depend on the chemistry between its leads. There are some laughs to be had in the green-band trailer, though the inevitable red-band preview might be the better example of what this Ferrell/Hart pairing has to offer… and whether or not it’s worth the price of admission.

Here is the official synopsis for Get Hard, followed by the poster:

When millionaire hedge fund manager James (Will Ferrell) is nailed for fraud and bound for a stretch in San Quentin, the judge gives him 30 days to get his affairs in order. Desperate, he turns to Darnell (Kevin Hart) to prep him for a life behind bars. But despite James’ one-percenter assumptions, Darnell is a hard-working small business owner who has never received a parking ticket, let alone been to prison. Together, the two men do whatever it takes for James to “get hard” and, in the process, discover how wrong they were about a lot of things – including each other.

Get Hard opens in U.S. theaters on March 27th, 2015.
