The official Game of Thrones script sheds light on several contested details from the show's seventh season, including Tyrion's (Peter Dinklage) real feelings for Daenerys (Emilia Clarke). It has been more than a year since the HBO juggernaut series released brand new content, leaving fans clamoring for any official detail about the upcoming eighth and final season, which will consist of six longer episodes.

Season 7 ended with the threat of the Night King and his legion of White Walkers coming to Westeros by breaking down The Wall. But amidst the overall danger that they pose to everyone, personal arcs and relationships between the characters continue to evolve - the biggest one of all is Daenerys and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) coming together. The budding romance will presumably have a major effect on how Game of Thrones season 8 plays out, particularly with Tyrion, who is apparently in love with Daenerys.

The Writers Guild of America West's library houses dozens of scripts from Games of Thrones as reported by Vanity Fair. Provided by HBO, these scripts have been on display for the public to see for years but it's only now that they're garnering attention after a social media post promoting the library's Game of Thrones content. A slew of details can be learned via the pages, including confirmation that Tyrion is genuinely smitten by Daenerys as early as season 6's "The Winds of Winter." “He studies her face. [. . .] Dany is staring into the distance so Tyrion is able to watch her from up close. Goddamn but she is beautiful. [. . .] He watches her for a beat too long and turns away. Lost in her own thoughts, she doesn’t notice that he’s flustered,” the script described.

Tyrion's affection continued to grow in season 7. The episode "The Spoils of War" made a point to highlight his love for the Mother of Dragons during her entanglement with his own brother, Jamie (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). “The brother he loves races towards his probably death at the hands of the queen Tyrion also loves,” as detailed in the script.

With that finally established, Game of Thrones fans have something more concrete to hold onto when formulating their theories for the upcoming season. It's not a coincidence that people behind the series opted to end Tyrion's season 7 story with him in the shadows knowing fully well that Jon and Daenerys were consummating their relationship. His love for Daenerys and knowing that her affection now lies with someone else could very well push Tyrion's loyalty elsewhere. After all, fans still don't know what he and Cersei (Lena Headey) fully talked about in her chambers when they reached out to her regarding the threat brought about by the White Walkers. The fact that Jamie appears to have abandoned his sister perfectly plays up the idea that the established allegiances in the show will soon be shaken up.

On the flip side, Tyrion's love for Daenerys could ultimately save her from any danger that she may face in Game of Thrones season 8. Some fans even posit the possibility that he could take care of Daenerys and Jon's potential offspring. The couple having a baby could ultimately be the resolution to the two's brewing power struggle when they eventually find out that Jon is Daenerys' nephew. Wherever Tyrion's feelings bring him, Dinklage promised he will get a beautiful ending, which should be enough for fans to look forward to what comes next for the character.

Game of Thrones season 8 premieres on HBO in April 2019.
