As it prepares to unleash its final six episodes, HBO's Game of Thrones is getting ready to live up to its title — its original title, at least.

A brand new teaser trailer for the final season of Thrones has arrived, one that pays homage to George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire," the name of the novel series on which HBO's Emmy-winning drama is based. The teaser centers on the impressive table at the heart of Dragonstone, the ancestral seat of House Targaryen, previously occupied by Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane), more recently taken up by the Dragon Queen Daenerys Stormborn (Emilia Clarke).

Soft piano notes ring through the air, evoking Ramin Djawadi's original Game of Thrones theme, as a slow but deadly mist of frost starts washing over one side of the table. On the other side, a blaze of fire, first consuming a lion, and then burning outward. It's an easy representation of the "Song of Ice and Fire" at the heart of Game of Thrones, both when it comes to the two most readily identifiable hero types — the aforemention Dany and her lover (and secret blood relative) Jon Snow (Kit Harington), the King in the North — as well as when it comes to the two supernatural entities at the core of the series: the Night King's White Walker army, and the Khaleesi's very own dragons.

The teaser culminates with ice and fire meeting directly in the middle of Westeros, a sign of the elemental collision bound to arrive when Game of Thrones premieres its eighth and final season in April 2019. A more specific date is not yet available.
