Frozen has been a popular movie with audiences for the past few weeks. However, industry analysts believe the flick could drop from the top spot over the weekend.

Although it faced some extremely stiff competition from the likes of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Frozen was the movie to beat at the box office over the holidays. Even the low-budget horror flick Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones couldn’t slow the movie down.

To date, Frozen has generated an extremely healthy $301 million from North American moviegoers. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $643 million from moviegoers. Considering the flick only cost Disney $150 million to produce, chances are the studio has labeled the family-friendly endeavor a massive hit.

While it’s very likely that Frozen will be a popular movie with audiences once again this weekend, analysts predict that the Mark Wahlberg flick Lone Survivor could top the box office. Variety believes the thriller will earn approximately $15 million to $20 million from moviegoers this weekend.

Based on the book Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10 by Marcus Luttrell and Patrick Robinson, the film tells the true story of an operation to capture or kill Taliban leader Ahmad Shahd. Taylor Kitsch, Eric Bana, Emile Hirsch, and Ben Foster co-star.

Check out the official synopsis:

“‘Lone Survivor’ tells the incredible tale of four Navy SEALs on a covert mission to neutralize a high-level al-Qaeda operative who are ambushed by the enemy in the mountains of Afghanistan. Faced with an impossible moral decision, the small band is isolated from help and surrounded by a much larger force of Taliban ready for war. As they confront unthinkable odds together, the four men find reserves of strength and resilience as they stay in the fight to the finish.”

Although Lone Survivor isn’t expected to set the box office on fire when it lands in theaters this weekend, it could make enough cash to dethrone Frozen as the most popular movie in America. However, chances are it will be a very close race to the finish line.

Unfortunately for Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment, the Kellan Lutz action flick The Legend of Hercules probably won’t generate a substantial amount of business when it lands in theaters. Analysts think this year’s first Hercules movie will only snag around $8 million on the big screen over the next three days.
