It was a hard-fought battle, but ultimately The Dark Knight III and its dozens of variant covers emerged the victor when it came to November's comic book sales. The Dark Knight III: The Master Race was the best-selling comic of last month (according to Diamond Comics) with an estimated 440,234 copies sold. Star Wars: Vader Down #1 followed with an estimated 384,969 copies sold.

Both of those issues rank among the best-selling comics of 2015, though January's Star Wars #1 still remains the year's top seller with an estimated 985,976 copies sold.

Marvel's overall market share declined slightly compared to October's impressive showing, but they still remained comfortably in the lead with 43.20% dollar share and 47.65% unit share. DC followed with 26.35% dollar share and 26.09% unit share, while Image remained in third place with 8.67% dollar share and 10.02% unit share. It was a healthy month for the industry in general, with overall revenue increasing 2.70% compared to October 2015, 13.84% compared to November 2014 and 5.89% compared to year-to-date 2014.

We'll see how well Marvel can hold on to their increased market share in December. They'll have another wave of All-New, All-Different Marvel titles along with the inevitable boost from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but DC has several high-profile books debuting this month (including Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 and Harley's Little Black Book #1) alongside the second issue of The Dark Knight III.
