Taron Egerton: Kingsman 2 Wrapped Filming; Will ‘Blow Everyone Away’

One of the biggest surprises to come out of 2015 was the success of Kingsman: The Secret Service. Thanks to Matthew Vaughn’s playful and violent approach, audiences could not get enough of the spy adventure based on Mark Millar’s comic. Taron Egerton got his breakthrough role as Eggsy, a troubled but talented teen. The movie grossed over $400 million worldwide, which made the announcement of a sequel inevitable. Egerton will be returning to his role in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which is shaping up to be bigger and hopefully better than the first.

The Secret Service depended a lot upon the relationship between Colin Firth and Egerton, but an impressive ensemble has been formed around the two. Even though many sequels are not as good as the first, it seems that Egerton thinks that is possible.

While speaking to ET Online, Egerton was asked about the sequel and had nothing but good things to say. The Golden Circle began production during the spring, and it appears Vaughn, Egerton, and the rest of the cast and crew have wrapped filming on the project. Even though there was no word before on the progress of filming, Egerton revealed this to be the case and indicates audiences will be happy with what they are shown:

It’s great man. We just finished. It’s going to blow everyone away.

One of the new members to the cast was Channing Tatum in an unknown role, but he was one of the rare people spotted on set. Tatum’s appearance and location on set could indicate a fellow member of the Kingsman service, but could also just be a very well dressed villain. Egerton revealed he was not on set long, but has high praise to give his fellow cast member:

He was only around for a couple of weeks, he’s such a great guy. He’s such a great guy and he’s brilliant in the movie. He’ll be great.

Tatum is not the only new face that will be joining the cast, but whatever role he and others play will only be a piece to the larger and international story. The Kingsman themselves are an English-based organization, but they could be getting help from Halle Berry and the CIA. It is unknown what kind of threat Julianne Moore will be as the villain, but with extra help coming Eggsy’s way, it should be a big threat.

Then again, Eggsy stopped the entire world from killing each other before, so he should be able to hold his own if needed. The added cast members and star power will not only help breathe more life and depth into this world, but should also help sell even more tickets come next year. Fox was extremely happy with the turnout from the first, but with a mid-summer release date for the sequel, they are expecting much more from the next installment. As long as those involved have been able to recapture the magic of the first, audiences will surely be checking in again next year.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle will be released on June 16th, 2017.
