Flight of the Conchords will return to HBO with a one-hour comedy special in May, according to a new press release. The New Zealand-duo will tape a live special on their United Kingdom tour that will feature some of the classic Conchords tunes we all know and love, while also featuring some new, never-before-heard musical material.

Casey Bloys, the president of Programming for HBO, officially confirmed the comeback. Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement have reunited for a new performance, after the success of their recent comeback tour, Flight of the Conchords Sing Flight of the Conchords Tour. Flight of the Conchords is a musical duo that had an incredibly popular and wonderfully oddball television show with HBO, titled Flight of the Conchords, that featured some of their branded New Zealand humor, along with musical numbers that cemented not only their musical talents, but also some impressive comedic chops.

The series lasted for two seasons from 2007 to 2009, before each of them expanded their respective careers far and beyond the television screen. This reunion will mark a welcome return to form for both McKenzie and Clement, about 10 years after they made a name for themselves with their series. They were known for songs like “Albi the Racist Dragon,” “The Most Beautiful Girl (In the Room),” “A Kiss is Not A Contract,” “Robots” and a stellar David Bowie impression with “Bowie.” The Conchords have two full-length albums featuring most of the songs from the show, Flight of the Conchords and I Told You I Was Freaky.

McKenzie and Clement have both built impressive and noteworthy careers after their HBO series. McKenzie has mostly stayed offscreen, but has lent his songwriting and musical abilities to The Muppets, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Song, and Muppets Most Wanted. He’s also contributed music to The Simpsons. Clement has stayed onscreen, lending his deep golden voice to all sorts of characters from Moana and The BFG to The LEGO Batman Movie and Rick and Morty . Along with his voice-over work, he’s also appeared in last year’s prestige television phenomenon Legion and starred in the indie-comedy What We Do in the Shadows. Clement is also working on a follow up to What We Do in the Shadows with Taika Waititi as well as a spinoff television series.

The musical return is super exciting for Conchords fans, as it’s hard to find a comedic musical group that matches the what they bring to the table. McKenzie and Clement are both incredible songwriters, and any chance to hear a new tune or two is a rare happening that should be cherished
