TRACEY Jewel’s birth mother says she wants to slap Married At First Sight’s Davina Rankin across the face after watching her go on a date with her daughter’s on-screen husband.

Speaking to Hit 105’s Stav, Abby and Matt this morning, Brisbane’s Patricia Gaugg said she was shocked to watch the couple swapping scandal unfold on Tuesday night’s episode of the Channel 9 reality show.

Jewel’s husband Dean Wells enjoyed a wine date with Brisbane bride Davina, while Jewel gushed about her relationship to one of her fellow brides.

“I think I’d have to have someone there to hold me back because I’d just want to slap her across the face to be honest with you,” Gaugg said about a meeting with Rankin.

“I think she went on the show for false intentions. She went there to make trouble and boy did she make it.”

She added: “I’d have some words to say to Dean too. He’s lucky I don’t (have his number).”

Gaugg told the breakfast radio show she had limited contact with her daughter, who lives in Perth, and had been completely unaware of the couple swapping until she saw it unfold on TV.

“At the wedding I thought Dean came across as a nice guy and I had a chat with him … and he told me he had good intentions. So I’m very shocked by all of this,” she said.

“(Tracey) was genuinely upset by this. This really did upset her. She wanted something out of this and she gave him a second chance to prove himself and that’s why seeing all this hits home; it’s very sad.”

During their wedding Jewel revealed she was adopted but reconciled with Gaugg, her birth mother, as a teenager.

Gaugg defended her daughter’s decision to undergo cosmetic surgery, admitting she had also had fillers and Botox.

“I knew people were going to have comments. If having plastic surgery and Botox and fillers makes you happy then who is anyone else to criticise,” she said.
