Just days after we received confirmation that ABC had given the OK to a new Agent Carter series, a first poster and synopsis have arrived online, briefing us on what to expect from the new show.

As previously understood, the new series will pick up after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger, with Peggy Carter embarking upon her new career as a covert operative…

"It’s 1946," reads the official blurb, "and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. "

"Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark, all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life - Steve Rogers."

Hayley Atwell will reprise her role as the titular character, with screenwriters Christopher Markus and Steve McFeely reportedly envisioning the first season of the show as a 10 or 13-episode series.

Agent Carter will form part of ABC's 2014-2015 lineup, with a specific air date yet to be confirmed.
