Fast & Furious 10 Should Bring Back The Rock (Because Of John Cena)

Fast & Furious 10 needs to bring back Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson if John Cena is still involved with the franchise. The Fast Saga is gearing up for the release of F9, but there are two more installments down the line before the series comes to a close. Though the ninth movie won't feature Johnson's character Luke Hobbs, the sequel is set to introduce Cena as Dominic Toretto's (Vin Diesel) villainous brother, Jakob Toretto. It's currently unclear if Johnson will return to the main saga, but Cena's possible presence paves the way for a perfect franchise face-off.

Johnson made his Fast & Furious debut in 2011's Fast Five. Since then, Hobbs has become a vital member of the film series as a loyal member of Dom's crew. The DSS agent was initially created as Dom's foe until the pair realized they were fighting the same corrupt figures. Hobbs and Dom's group then teamed up to take down various villains like Hernan Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida), Owen Shaw (Luke Evans), Mose Jakanda (Djimon Hounsou), and Cipher (Charlize Theron). Despite viewing Owen's brother, Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), as an enemy, Hobbs joined his former nemesis for a special mission for the franchise's first official spinoff, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.

Due to Johnson's headlining role in the spinoff, it wasn't imperative to feature him in F9. An intense feud between Johnson and Diesel also affected Hobbs' presence in the forthcoming sequel. Now that the verbal squabble has been put to rest, Diesel is teasing Johnson's return to The Fast Saga. With Cena now a member of the franchise, it would be thrilling to pin the two former wrestlers together. However, that will all depend on Jakob's arc and whether or not he's given a chance to appear beyond F9.

How The Fast Saga Could Benefit From A Hobbs Vs Jakob Showdown

Johnson and Cena already have a long history stemming from their wrestling careers. They memorably went toe-to-toe in the ring at WrestleMania 28 and 29. Cena has also playfully criticized Johnson for stepping away from wrestling to build an acting career. Ironically, Cena has followed a similar path by focusing on his growing career as an actor. By bringing back Hobbs in Fast & Furious 10, the series can revive the pair's rivalry in a ridiculously meta way. If Jakob is still portraying an antagonist, it would be an absolute thrill to witness Hobbs being the one to fight him. Not only would it be exciting for fans of "The Rock" and John Cena's history in the ring, but also for those hoping for more epic duels in the series.

Featuring Johnson and Cena would also be beneficial from a film studio standpoint. The Fast & Furious franchise was rejuvenated with the addition of Hobbs. As Hollywood's leading action movie star, there's no doubt The Fast Saga would welcome Johnson's return. Cena, on the other hand, is transforming into a move headliner in his own right. Aside from his appearance in F9, 2021 will see the star appear as Peacemaker in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. Johnson and Cena might be in the midst of a 2021 movie battle, but Fast & Furious 10 could finally bring the pair together on the same screen. Their characters could be at odds, but there probably wouldn't be a WrestleMania ring involved this time around.
