It looks like The Falcon & The Winter Soldier just unseated Attack on Titan as the most popular show in the world. The new Marvel series is only the MCU's second entry into television on Disney+, and they are already achieving massive success. It was previously reported that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's premiere episode was the most watch premiere of any original show on Disney+. This show follows WandaVision, which was also incredibly successful, and went on to become the most popular show in the world as well.

Disney's main strategy to grow and sustain subscribers for Disney+ is to rely on its biggest franchises like Marvel and Star Wars to pad their service with premium content. With now 3 hit series out of the gate, this strategy may be proving to work. In just a little over a year, Disney+ racked up over 100 million subscribers despite not releasing as much original content as their streaming competitors like Netflix. This is due to the massive success of shows like The Mandalorian which was also a massive hit and continues to dominate pop culture discussion.

Now with the streaming service's latest entry, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, it looks like Disney+ has yet another giant hit on their hands. According to Forbes, the new Marvel series has just passed the anime show Attack on Titian to become the most popular and most-watched show on Earth. In their report, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier now has 92.6x more demand than the average series worldwide. After only its first week, the show is already tracking well ahead of WandaVision with 90.1x more demand. This makes The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Disney+'s second most popular show after The Mandalorian which saw 108.8x demand in its first week.

All of this data was conducted by a third-party analytics company which means that none of this information has been confirmed by Disney or Marvel. This is becoming a more common thing as studios refuse to release any viewership data for their streaming services. Gone are the days where everyone analyzed the weekend box office numbers; that was how the industry knew what was popular and what was not. Now with streaming becoming more and more dominant and imperative to Hollywood, studios do not have to release their numbers anymore, leaving the industry mostly in the dark. That being said, this third-party data is all that the industry has to work with, and so far, no one from Disney has refuted this information.

Judging by WandaVision's and The Mandalorian's upward trends, The Falcon and The Winter Solider's viewership should only rise from here. This would make the series a truly massive hit for Disney+. Marvel has a lot more shows coming this year including the much anticipated Loki series along with Hawkeye and What If. If those shows can reach the same level of success as Marvel's previous entries then there is no doubt that Disney+ will continue to be a dominant player in the streaming wars for years to come.
