Jason Bateman is in talks to direct the Netflix movie Here Comes the Flood. Starting his career as a child actor, Bateman went on to become known for his comedic acting, starring in the sitcom Arrested Development. He also starred in numerous films, including Juno, Horrible Bosses, and Game Night. In recent years, Bateman has flaunted his range, moving onto more serious projects and working more behind-the-scenes.

Reported by Deadline, Bateman is in early negotiations to direct the Netflix movie, Here Comes the Flood. Netflix acquired the film with a seven-figure deal. If the negotiations go through, this will mark Bateman's third film as a director. He made his directorial debut with Bad Words and followed it with The Family Fang.

Bateman has proven himself to be a more than credible director, especially with his work on the Netflix drama Ozark. Starring in the series since 2017, Bateman has directed several episodes. Ozark has been nominated for multiple Emmys, with Bateman winning for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series in 2019. He also directed an episode of Arrested Development and two episodes of the HBO miniseries The Outsider, which he also starred in.

Here Comes the Flood was written by Simon Kinberg, who has previously written and produced several films in the X-Men franchise. It has been described as a romantic, character-driven heist movie. It's being produced by Kinberg and president of Genre Films Audrey Chon. If Bateman signs onto the film, he may also act as a producer through his production company Aggregate Films.
