Just in time for Halloween, Warner Bros. has released a new IT VR game where you will come face to face with Pennywise. Andy Muschietti’s take on Stephen King’s novelbroke various box office records and was praised by critics and audiences alike, so its hardly surprising the sequel is getting ready for a 2019 release.

IT: Chapter One covers half the novel, following a group of kids self-named “The Losers Club” as they come face to face with an evil shape-shifting entity – whose preferred form is that of Pennywise, the Dancing Clown – and are forced to confront their biggest fears. Prior to the release of the film, Warner released a VR Experience where you could follow Georgie’s steps as he ran after his paper boat and enter the sewers to meet Pennywise. Now, the studio has released a new VR Game that will take you into Neibolt’s house for the ultimate IT experience.

Titled IT: Escape from Pennywise, the game is available now on Samsung Gear VR and Google Daydream. Costing $0.99, it takes the viewer to the Neibolt’s house where they will have to choose a door to determine thier fate: it will be up to every player if they want a “not scary at all”, “scary”, or “very scary” experience. But beware: just like in the film, whichever door you choose will make you face your fears.

The abandoned house at Neibolt Street plays an important role in both the novel and the film, being where the Losers confront IT for the first time as a group. In the film, the Losers discover the sewer lines lead to a well located under the abandoned house. Once there, they are attacked by Pennywise, who is injured by Beverly at the last minute and retreats to the sewers.

The scenes in the house, from Richie’s encounter with Pennywise in a room full of clowns to the dancing clown coming out of a small fridge in front of a severely injured Eddie, are some of the most powerful and impactful moments of the film – the perfect scenario for a virtual reality experience.
VR is only becoming more and more popular for movie tie-ins, especially in the horror genre. While we wait for the home release of IT: Chapter One, IT: Escape from Pennywise will be a fun experience for fans who want to relive one of the best moments from the film.
