Denzel Washington’s The Equalizer remains one of the most anticipated (read: only promising) films in the lineup of September releases – and not without good reason. The movie sees Denzel re-teaming with his Training Day director Antonie Fuqua for a dark and violent reboot of the 1980s Equalizer TV series – and with Fuqua coming off of the gritty throwback action flick Olympus Has Fallen, action fans are understandably hopeful that The Equalizer will deliver something worthwhile.

Up above we have the latest TV trailer for the film, which aired during the 2014 MTV VMAs and features the new Eminem track, “Guts Over Fear”. For more on what the film is about and background on its central character, retired black ops agent Robert McCall (Washington), watch the behind-the-scenes featurette below:

In addition to having Washington in the lead and Fuqua at the helm, The Equalizer also boast a solid cast in the form of Chloe Grace Moretz (If I Stay), Bill Pullman (Edge of Tomorrow), Melissa Leo (Prisoners) and Marton Csokas (Amazing Spider-Man 2) as the villain.

As stated, we’re not hoping for a reinvention of the action movie wheel with this one – just some throwback fun, with Denzel supplying his cool-as-ice badass persona. If we get that much, we’ll consider The Equalizer a worthwhile franchise reboot.

The Equalizer will be in theaters on September 26, 2014.
