The upcoming new season of Better Call Saul will introduce a new character played by Ed Begley Jr.

Named Clifford, the character will allegedly play a big part in the development of main character Jimmy McGill. Better Call Saul co-creator Peter Gould explained more about the character when speaking with EW, describing him as an “authority figure who has the power to make many of Jimmy’s dreams come true, if Jimmy can only play ball.”

“When you first meet him, he is highly avuncular and somebody whom you’d like to spend time with and is a very sweet guy. But you wouldn’t want to cross him, let’s put it that way.”

Begley Jr. will be a guest star in several episodes throughout the season. His recent acting credits include Blunt Talk, Portlandia, Arrested Development, and a role in the upcoming Christopher Guest film Mascots.

A prequel to AMC's hit drama Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul is the story of how Jimmy McGill evolves into the morally questionable lawyer Saul Goodman. The new season will premiere on AMC beginning February 15.
