Elizabeth Olsen expresses interest in a possible House of M Marvel film. Since her and Vision’s introduction in the MCU in Avengers: Age of Ultron, comic book fans presumed the two will evolve into a full-blown romantic relationship. Things progressed nicely in Captain America: Civil War and by the time Avengers: Infinity War rolls around, it seems like they’re officially an item. It’s not the best time to start a relationship considering Vision is on Thanos’ target list, but if Marvel is playing the long game with them, it can lead to a possible adaptation of House of M on the big screen.

Released in 2005, the House of M comic book storyline involves a delusional Scarlet Witch who loses control of her ability to alter reality. Following a nervous breakdown due to her losing her two kids with Vision, she inadvertently creates an alternate reality where her family is royalty and mutants are under the reign of Magneto. It’s a convoluted narrative that is undoubtedly difficult to translate into a two-hour film, but Olsen is game for it if Marvel Studios is.peaking with Metro UK during the fan event in London for Infinity War, Olsen addressed the possibility of her headlining her own Marvel film down the line. And if the actress wasn’t that interested in the prospect in a previous interview, things have already changed, with the 29-year-old even having an idea of what the standalone film might possibly be about:

I would love to [do a standalone], and I would love it to be House Of M, which is a comic book series of The Vision and Scarlet Witch having a make-believe family. Then they [Vision and her family] have to tell her that she was make-believing the entire time, and she has a very traumatic experience and screams, and kills all the mutants – but that’s an X-Men story so we’d have to adjust the ending.

Olsen may get her wish without the compromise of changing a significant narrative part of House of M when the Fox and Disney deal pushes through at the very earliest sometime next year. This would allow Marvel Studios to have the creative reigns over the other studio’s rich roster of characters, such as the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, who have long been separated from the MCU due to their rights currently being owned by Fox. But once the acquisition becomes official, Kevin Feige can finally incorporate the mutants in his own shared universe in however way he pleases. And since Olsen isn’t the only one clamoring for the aforementioned comics storyline to be adapted to the big screen, it’s safe to assume that he’s at least looking at the possibility.

But before looking further down the MCU road and theorizing about how House of M could fit in the existing canon, it’s best to first take into consideration what goes down in Infinity War and Avengers 4 given that these films will be the springboard for what comes next in the franchise. Vision is a pivotal part of Scarlet Witch’s character trajectory and the overall storyline of House of M. However, with his life in serious danger due to the Mind Stone in his forehead, the chances of him not making through the next Avengers movies are high. This means that if the android doesn’t make it into Phase 4, the adaptation of the aforementioned print narrative will differ significantly from its big screen counterpart if Marvel Studios decides to source it for their films.
