The young unscripted competition has done the network a service in its ability to fill scheduling holes where needed.

NBC is signing on for more of The Wall, commissioning another 20 episodes of the year-old unscripted competition.

The game show has been a solid performer for the network and for in-house reality outfit Universal Television Alternative Studio, which produces The Wall alongside Glassman Media, LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill Entertainment and executive producer/host Chris Hardwick. Broadcast season to date, it has been averaging a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 6 million viewers.

“Not only is The Wall intense, heartwarming and funny, but if the ball drops into a high-dollar slot, an entire family’s fortune can be completely changed for the better,” said NBC Entertainment's alternative and reality group president Paul Telegdy. “Huge congratulations to Universal Television Alternative Studio, Glassman Media and SpringHill Entertainment for producing a series that is not only compelling television but has the potential to be life-changing for our contestants.”

For Telegdy and Meredith Ahr's in-house studio, The Wall was one of its first big swings, followed by the successful summer 2017 launch of World of Dance. Upcoming projects include craft competition Making It, with Nick Offerman and Amy Poehler, and Dwayne Johnson's The Titan Games.

Unlike flagship alternative series The Voice and America's Got Talent, The Wall has done NBC a service in its ability to fill scheduling holes where needed. It has aired on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at various points since it came on the air in December 2016.
