Deadpool remains no. 1 at the box office for second weekend

Deadpool held the top spot at the domestic box office for the second weekend in a row, adding $55 million to its total domestic revenue.

The film opened to major success, breaking February records for President's Day weekend by racking up over $152 million. Its huge debut earned Deadpool a spot among the top ten comic book movie openings of all time. After roughly two weeks in theaters, Deadpool has earned $235.4 million domestically.

This makes Deadpool the highest-grossing X-Men-related movie domestically, though not adjusted for inflation.

Kung Fu Panda 3 held steady at number two with its $117.1 million total, up $12.5 million this weekend. New releases Risen and The Witch followed in third and fourth, respectively. Risen—Sony's Jesus-drama—earned itself $11.8 million, while The Witch—A4's Puritanical horror film—brought in $8.6 million.

Warner Bros. Pictures' How To Be Single fell to fifth, adding $8.2 million to its $31.7 million total. Focus Features' Race, another newcomer, followed with $7.2 million on its opening weekend. The biopic follows Olympian Jesse Owens' at the controversial 1936 Berlin games.

The top-ten box office estimates, via Rentrak, are as follows:

    1. Deadpool—$55,000,000

    2. Kung Fu Panda 3—$12,500,000

    3. Risen—$11,800,000

    4. The Witch—$8,685,270

    5. How To Be Single—$8,220,000

    6. Race—$7,275,000

    7. Zoolander 2—$5,500,000

    8. Star Wars: The Force Awakens—$3,386,000

    9. The Revenant—$3,800,000

    10. Hail, Ceasar!—$2,635,165
