The critical and commercial success of Deadpool is a blessing and a curse for the highly anticipated sequel. Ryan Reynolds' Merc with the Mouth has become a worldwide sensation over the course of the last year, but Deadpool's newfound mainstream appeal also raises the bar for continued success. It is clear that Deadpool 2 needs to bring in some downright colorful characters to match the sheer charm of its predecessor, and the sequel may has found the newest addition to its roster in the form of Jack Kesy. But who could Kesy be playing? It may be Black Tom.

While one could easily argue that Deadpool's Ajax (Ed Skrein) and Angel Dust (Gina Carano) left quite a bit to be desired in the villain category, it looks like the sequel has stepped up to the plate in a major way. Specifically, a new report from Deadline suggests that Marvel villain Black Tom will appear in Deadpool 2 to face off against Wade Wilson and Josh Brolin's Cable. The character can manipulate the energy of plant life and deliver concussive blasts of energy through wooden objects, making him a formidable opponent. Little is known about his specific relevance to the plot of David Leitch's sequel, but we do know that Kesy will be playing some sort of villain, so get excited about that.

We have little doubt that Jack Kesy will be able to deliver all of the creepiness and evil necessary for a character like Black Tom. His most notable role to date is as the endlessly goth rock star vampire Gabriel Bolivar on FX's The Strain. From there, Kesy's star has risen in recent years as the actor has taken on roles in upcoming projects like Baywatch, Horse Soldiers, and now Deadpool 2. He has an undeniable talent for David Leitch to take advantage of, so we are excited to see how he fits into the Deadpool world.

Despite the inherent creepiness of Black Tom as a villain, it is clear that Deadpool 2 is still gunning for that same endearing charm that we all fell in love with in the original. Check out the teaser for the film (which accompanied screenings of Logan in March) below:
