When is Justice League coming? When will movie fans see Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Black Adam? Is Jason Momoa really going to star in his own Aquaman movie? What’s the plan for Green Lantern going forward? Will Warner Bros. give Gal Gadot her own Wonder Woman movie? When will Suicide Squad happen? We now know the answers to all of these DC Entertainment movie questions. No more rumors and speculation.

Marvel dropped a news bomb this week when unveiling that Robert Downey Jr. had re-signed with the studio to add at least one additional movie to his current contract which will already see him return for The Avengers 3. Before appearing there though, he will be co-starring with Chris Evans in Captain America 3 when it hits theaters in May 2016 and that film will kick off an adaptation of Marvel’s Civil War crossover event from the comics. We can see now why Marvel was confident in keeping that May 2016 release date even after Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice tried to takeover the weekend (it was later moved to earlier in the year).

It didn’t take long for DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures to respond. They promised DC movie news soon and wow, they just delivered! We learned two months ago that they were finally ready to get serious about their own shared comic book movie universe, building off of what Man of Steel began and what Batman V Superman will blow wide open. The following release dates were officially announced by WB two months ago but none of the untitled features were unveiled (our estimations below based on rumors and reports):

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice - March 25th, 2016
Untitled DC Film – August 5th, 2016 (Shazam?)
Untitled DC Film – June 23rd, 2017 (Justice League?)
Untitled DC Film – November 17th, 2017 (The Sandman?)
Untitled DC Film – March 23rd, 2018 (Green Lantern/Flash or Wonder Woman?)
Untitled DC Film – July 27th, 2018 (Man of Steel 2?)
Untitled DC Film – April 5th, 2019
Untitled DC Film - June 14th, 2019 (The Batman?)
Untitled DC Film – April 3rd, 2020
Untitled DC Film – June 19th, 2020
Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara is currently hosting a presentation for investors today and took the opportunity to announce what films will be taking those dates. As it turns out, Shazam won’t be out for a while and Wonder Woman will be coming quite a bit sooner. Cyborg is getting his own movie, Green Lantern will get a reboot and director, and Zack Snyder will helm Justice League parts 1 and 2. Also, they’ve cast The Flash! Let’s see how the DC movie universe is currently shaping up:

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice - March 25th, 2016
Suicide Squad – August 5th, 2016
Wonder Woman - June 23rd, 2017
Justice League - November 17th, 2017
The Flash - March 23rd, 2018
Aquaman - July 27th, 2018
Shazam - April 5th, 2019
Justice League 2 - June 14th, 2019
Cyborg - April 3rd, 2020
Green Lantern - June 19th, 2020
Bring it!

We learned more than just dates though. Zack Snyder will return again after BvS to help both Justice League features and David Ayer (End of Watch, Fury) will direct Suicide Squad. WSJ reports that Ezra Miller will play The Flash and to no surprise, Jason Momoa will play Aquaman (a film which currently has 2 scripts in the works). We aren’t 100% on the order of the 2018-2020 films, we only know for sure those pairs are coming out in those years.

Update: A few obvious thoughts come to mind based on the lineup. There’s no mention of Green Arrow but given that Ezra Miller is playing The Flash, this is further confirmation that DC’s TV and film projects are based in separate universes. There’s also no dates yet for followup solo movies for Ben Affleck’s Batman or Henry Cavill’s Superman but the press release does confirm that there will be standalone features for both of them before 2020.. We also still don’t know for certain what the plans are to include Green Arrow or Martian Manhunter, or if they’re included at all.

Stay tuned for updates…
