Usually the scariest thing to come from the radio is some numpty blithering on about dodgy politics or unexpectedly hearing the latest track from Miley Cyrus. Now the team behind Dark Signal wants to explore the idea of a ghostly use for the wireless.

Dark Signal finds the wandering spirit of a murdered girl who returns to our world with a desperate message. When a stranded woman overhears her cries, she has to team up with the staff of a local radio station to solve the mystery of how the girl died. James Cosmo, Cinzia Monreale, Joanna Ignaczewska, Gareth David-Lloyd, Siwan Morris, Duncan Pow, Sioned Jones and Eleanor Gecks make up the cast.

Neill Marshall is acting as executive producer for the project, adding his name and offering guidance to help boost the, er, Signal. But the actual filmmaking will be down to Edward Evers-Swindell, who will direct from a script he wrote with Antony Jones, with producing support from Jonas Babics and Paul DuBois. It’ll all kick off shooting in Wales next week and should be haunting cinemas next year.
