Daniel Craig May Have Changed His Mind About Not Returning As James Bond

There are few franchises that are quite as successful and far reaching as James Bond. Spanning 26 movies and 54 years, entire generations of moviegoers have rushed to theaters in order to watch 007 kill, fall in love, and drink martinis. Because of how close to their hearts fans hold James Bond, casting of the special agent is usually a top concern when each film is produced. Daniel Craig starred as the title character in the last four installments of the franchise, and the question of his return to the role has been asked since he made a controversial interview last year, claiming he'd prefer to "slash my wrists" than be Bond again. But now that might change.

Daniel Craig did an appearance at this past weekend's New York Comic Con, where he revealed he's actually very fond of his job as the coolest spy ever. Regarding his possible return to the franchise, Craig said the following (via io9):

As far as I'm concerned, I've got the best job in the world. I'll keep doing it as long as I still get a kick out of it. If I were to stop doing it, I would miss it terribly.

Do you hear that? It's the sound of James Bond fans everywhere rejoicing.

Fans have been hoping that Daniel Craig would appear at least one more time as James Bond in a future film. His performance has been acclaimed by critics and average moviegoers alike, as Craig's Bond is far more brutal than his predecessor Pierce Brosnan. The James Bond seen in Casino Royale and onward is truly chilling, as he relies more on his skills and fists than fancy gadgets. Additionally, Daniel Craig is a behemoth of a man, so the audience doesn't have to suspend their disbelief in order to buy that he could kill with his bare fists.

During his appearance at New York Comic Con, Daniel Craig also addressed his now infamous interview about slashing his writs. A year later, he said the following about that statement:

They say that shit sticks, and that definitely stuck. It was the day after filming [stopped on Spectre]. I'd been away from home for a year.

While it is clear that Daniel Craig meant what he said in the moment, it now appears that the time away from Bond's tuxedo has given the actor some clarity. After spending months doing stunt work and action sequences, the last thing Craig wanted to discuss was starting the process all over again.

Then again, if we've spent a year discussing Daniel Craig's possible replacements (Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Gillian Anderson) for no reason then people may not be pleased with Daniel Craig. Despite wanting to see him in the role once more.

I don't like Daniel Craig because he's very unpleasant person. I was in the staff when filming one of his movies, he was acting like diva all the time. When you talk to him he looks down at you, very arrogant person. I would hate to see him in one more Bond movie.

I always pictured him as a diva. While I won't necessarily take your word as gospel it is indeed very interesting. I'm pretty much ready for a new james bond. Perhaps an unpopular opinion but I really liked Pierce Brosnas james bond.

Doesn't he have one more movie on his contract already?
