The end of filming for The Rise of Skywalker was an emotional experience for star Daisy Ridley, who admits to crying when she wrapped. The Rise of Skywalker was the final film of the newest Star Wars trilogy, which elevated Ridley from a little-known actress in the United States to a bonafide movie star. She's moved on to other projects, but it's clear she understands the power of being part of a franchise that she will be linked to forever.

Ridley has done plenty of talking about her time with the franchise in the months and years since The Rise of Skywalker concluded the sequel trilogy in 2019. Ridley, who played Rey, has previously stated that she believes the saga was the "perfect" conclusion to the character's story, suggesting we may have seen the last of Rey. In fact, she's talked about the possibility of seeing Rey again in the universe as well.

Ridley is now opening up more about her personal emotions at the end of her Star Wars journey. While speaking to People, Ridley admits she cried her eyes out when filming ended for the franchise's ninth installment. "When we wrapped, I wept all day," Ridley told the magazine. She continued:

"I felt like I was going to pop a vein because I was crying so much… Obviously not to say that it was like grieving, but it was grieving something. I’ll always have it, and we’re all bonded by this incredible thing.”

Not everyone has had positive things to say about the impact Star Wars has had on their lives in the aftermath of the release of The Rise of Skywalker, which did face some backlash. Oscar Isaac, who played Poe in the new trilogy, was critical of the fact that the franchise didn't decide to make Poe and Finn romantic partners, referring to Disney as "overlords." John Boyega, who played Finn, was also critical of how his character was handled and how fans have approached him, stating he has no desire to return to the franchise down the road.

Ridley has been more reserved in her response to the backlash to the ending of the trilogy and her tears are recognition of the hard work and dedication that comes with creating art at such a grand scale. Still, she seems fully invested in other projects right now, such as Baba Yaga, a VR experience available on the Oculus Quest. Maybe down the road, Daisy Ridley will have the opportunity to cry at the prospect of concluding another Star Wars project, as she did with The Rise of Skywalker.
