Tickets for D23 2019 will go on sale next week, as Disney unveils the first official details of the event. The studio holds the convention every two years, shining a spotlight on their upcoming projects. With all the popular subsidiaries under the Mouse House's umbrella (Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm), there's always a great amount of interest. Frequently, attendees are treated to exclusive looks at concept art or footage from the films being promoted. And there's always the possibility for a surprise announcement, like when Disney unveiled plans for Star Wars Land in 2015.

D23 will take place in August 2019, and already fans are making plans for a trip to Anaheim and take in all Disney has to offer. While a full program list is still a ways away from being published, we now know some of what Disney has in store.

In a press release, Disney announced tickets for next year's D23 will go on sale Thursday, August 23. In addition to the typical show floor festivities, there will be the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony, the Mousquerade costume contest (judged by Yvette Nicole Brown and Ashley Eckstein), and the D23 2019 Expo Design Challenge - which is themed after Haunted Mansion. The winner will receive a $2,300 cash prize. More details about these events will be released at a later date.

While they're only teased in the announcement, it's safe to say there will be a large presence from Disney's various film properties, such as the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars. December 2019 sees the anticipated release of Episode IX, so there should be a panel dedicated to the galaxy far, far away. Perhaps Lucasfilm will screen a behind-the-scenes sizzle reel, similar to what they did for The Last Jedi at last year's D23. As for Marvel, it's difficult to say how they'll be represented. D23 2019 happens a month after San Diego Comic-Con, and after Marvel skipped Hall H this year, they'll likely be back for a big show. Kevin Feige and company will have to find a way to balance the two conventions, so attendees at both walk away feeling satisfied. By the time D23 rolls around, all of their 2019 blockbusters will have been released, so Phase 4 should be a centerpiece of any presentation.

Of course, there will be plenty more besides those two live-action franchises. Pixar has two currently untitled films set for release in 2020, and Disney animation has one of their own. Not to mention, the Mouse House has a couple in-house live-action films in the pipeline - Mulan and Maleficent 2 coming in 2020. No matter what branch of Disney one likes, there's bound to be something to enjoy at D23 next summer.
