Cyberpunk 2077 may be releasing a bit earlier than expected, as a new report claims CD Projekt RED is planning to release the game by the end of 2016.

According to Gamereactor Germany (via Destructoid), a "source close to the company" has told the outlet the studio is aiming to launch the game sometime next year.

If the report proves true, this would be a significant bump forward in the game's release schedule, as earlier this year CD Projekt RED said it plans to focus on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for the next couple years and won't be discussing Cyberpunk 2077 again until 2017.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be "far, far bigger" than the studio's prior work, with the Polish developer saying back in October that they're "really stepping into the unknown in terms of complexity and size and problems [they] encounter."
